DAVID S. PUMPKINS WINS AT CARRIGAN ARMS

Any questions?

There was something strange going on at Carrigan Arms Wednesday night as Dead Man's Hand Poker kicked off the first night of our Halloween Spooktacular! Ghosts, goblins, assorted creatures and a few people who looked perfectly normal (which was suspicious enough) descended on the place for an evening of poker and Halloween hijinks!

And when the dust settled, it was none other than David S. Pumpkins who emerged victorious!

Well, actually, it was Jeremy Paczuski, dressed as the peculiar pumpkin-loving character, who carved his way through a field of 42 players and 58 entries to claim his seventh career victory and first win of the Harvest Moon season!

WTG, Jeremy!

And Jeremy certainly wasn't fooling around when it came to collecting bounties. He turned in an incredible 16 bounty chips, the largest individual haul of the night! With Double Reward Cards in effect for everyone in costume, Jeremy finished the evening with a staggering 46 Reward Cards! Apparently, winning the tournament wasn't quite enough for him!

John Luty finished runner-up, claiming his first recorded podium finish, while David Rawlings took third. Poor David has been getting awfully close lately, finishing second on Monday and third on Wednesday. At this rate, he's going to need a bigger trophy shelf for all those near misses!

But the poker was only half the entertainment!

Our Halloween costume contest brought out some wonderfully creative characters, and one in particular had me doing a double take.

Why, if it isn't Little Red Riding Hood's dear old grandmother, wandering into Carrigan Arms in her nightie!

My, Grandma, what big eyes you have!

And what big ears!

And... WAIT A MINUTE! THAT'S NOT GRANDMA! THAT'S THE BIG BAD WOLF!

Turns out it was Dan Veltri, who'd disguised himself as Grandma and fooled his way into winning our Best Costume award! For his efforts, Dan received his choice of a ticket to either of our upcoming charity tournaments, an $80 prize!

But Dan wasn't the only one who benefited from dressing up. The best costume at each table earned DOUBLE POINTS for the evening, and our five winners were Dan Veltri, Lesli Gladstone, Karen Rossignol, CJ Reyes and Beverley Terceira!

Of those five, Lesli was the only one to finish in the points, placing ninth and making the most of her costume bonus. With 10 final tables and 16 in-the-points finishes this season, she's certainly finding plenty of ways to keep climbing those standings!

And don't forget, everyone who came in costume enjoyed Double Reward Cards throughout the evening, proving once again that a little Halloween spirit can go a long way at the poker table!

AND WE'RE NOT FINISHED YET!

Tonight, Thursday, October 29, we're doing it all over again at Brown Barrel for Night Two of our Halloween Spooktacular!

And just a reminder, costumes are encouraged, but certainly not mandatory! If dressing up isn't your thing, come as yourself. There's no need to make other plans just because your Halloween costume is staying in the closet!

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with tonight, especially anyone who's thinking about going for those Triple Reward Cards!

And here's an interesting twist: Dan can win ANOTHER $80 charity tournament ticket if he shows up in a different costume and wins Best Costume again! Two nights, two costumes, two tickets. Not a bad Halloween haul if he can pull it off!

So dig out those costumes, get creative, or just come as you are, and join us for another night of spooky poker fun!

Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃
